The rainbow cabinet and chassis also had non-radio uses. Northern Electric manufactured a office intercom system that used both. The powered intercom unit was called the "Magnaphone Junior Station". It had the facility to connect to five non-powered substations.

1. The metal dial is attached directly to the cabinet with clips in the same manner as the dial cover is attached in the radio models.

2. The same three-hole rainbow cabinet used in the Model 5002 is used in the Model R6A.

3. The right hole accommodates a red lens power indicator.

4. A middle hole accommodates a power/volume knob which is a standard rainbow knob.

5. The left hole accommodates a flip switch which allows the speaker to function as a microphone.

6. The back has five rows of terminal screws labeled "A", "B", and "C". Each set of screws allow connection to a total of five substations.

7. A bakelite back cover is used to conceal the back wiring connections allowing placement on an office desk.

1. Two types of dials have been used with this model. Neither dial type has part number. The dial differ in that "Junior" lettering may be in print or it may be in script.

2. One of the examples has a black substation selector knob while the other two have brown selector knobs.There is a possibility that this might be a post-purchase replacement.

3. Some of the R6A models had a back with labels applied as decals rather than stamped on as in the intact R6A examples in my collection. I have such a back that I received as a single piece rather than as part of an intact model R6A. Photos are below.
